You have to laugh when at dinner together with fractured nuclear unit the dad tirades indignantly denouncing that half of our country who would rather still own slaves, his daughter and ex-wife both nod sympathetically shaking their heads in disgust – they who each possess duplexes letting additional unit to a tenant, the solicitor pater having just supported a slumlord in evicting some louse-chewed family.

Jerome Berglund has worked as everything from dishwasher to paralegal, night watchman to assembler of heart valves. Many haiku, haiga and haibun he’s written have been exhibited or are forthcoming online and in print, most recently in bottle rockets, Frogpond, Kingfisher, and Presence.
